Two Erres)
Dos Erres (the name literally means "2R's") is a village in the Petén department of Guatemala.
On 6 December 1982, during the rule of General Efraín Ríos Montt, 200 people – including women, old folk and children – were massacred by government forces as a part of their scorched earth policy, in which up to 200,000 indigenous and Mayan people died. In 2000 then President Alfonso Portillo admitted government responsibility for the massacre in this village.
