The University Health Network (UHN) is an umbrella organization that encompasses three major hospitals in Toronto, Canada, as well as a family of affiliated medical laboratories and foundations.
- Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) is the largest oncology research and treatment facility in Canada, and one of the largest in the world. It is home to the Ontario Cancer Institute and the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. PMH reopened its doors at a new site on University Avenue just south of Queen's Park after a 1998 relocation.
- Toronto General Hospital (TGH) is the largest facility in the Network, and is located on University Avenue directly across the street from Princess Margaret Hospital. Its research arm is the Toronto General Research Institute. TGH is a major centre for cardiac care, and home to a substantial organ transplant program. (TGH surgeons conducted the world's first double lung transplant in 1986.)
- Toronto Western Hospital is located on Bathurst Street, a short bus ride away from the other two hospitals. Research is conducted at the Toronto Western Research Institute. Fundraising is carried out jointly with TGH by the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation.
- Also part of UHN is the Wellesley Toronto Arthritis & Immune Disorder Research Centre, funded by the Arthritis & Autoimmunity Research Centre Foundation.
All three hospitals carry out extensive programs of research, devoting well in excess of $150 million (CAD) per year to research in nearly all areas of medicine. Physicians and researchers collaborate extensively with the nearby University of Toronto, and many scientists hold professorial appointments at that institution. In total, more than three thousand undergraduate, graduate, and medical students study in UHN hospitals and institutes. UHN is Canada's largest teaching hospital.
