Time Out of Mind is Bob Dylan's critically-acclaimed 1997 album. It won the 1997 Grammy for “Album of the Year,” and is considered to be the best Bob Dylan album of the 1990’s. It was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll.

It is generally considered a dark album, and was created with a multi-layered production technique. The album contains an unprecedented number of lines taken from other songs for Dylan, and is in this sense a postmodern album. Its sound can best be described as that of night club jazz, and Dylan’s voice is very weathered-sounding.

The track-listing is as follows:

  • 1. Love Sick
  • 2. Dirt Road Blues
  • 3. Standing In The Doorway
  • 4. Million Miles
  • 5. Tryin' To Get To Heaven
  • 6. 'Til I Fell In Love With You
  • 7. Not Dark Yet
  • 8. Cold Irons Bound
  • 9. Make You Feel My Love
  • 10. Can't Wait
  • 11. Highlands

The single and popular song, Not Dark Yet, was featured in the Curtis Hanson film Wonder Boys, starring Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Frances McDormand, Katie Holmes, and Robert Downey Jr. The movie also featured the song Things Have Changed, another popular hit that did not appear on any album, but belongs to this era of songs.

Love Sick was featured in a Victoria’s Secret television advertisement, along with Dylan’s visage.
