Thrilling Cities

Thrilling Cities is the title of a collection of non-fiction travel articles by James Bond creator Ian Fleming. The book was published by Glidrose Productions first in Great Britain in 1963, followed by an American edition in 1964.

The book is based upon articles Fleming wrote for the London Sunday Times in 1959 and 1960, including material edited out of the original articles.

Thrilling Cities also features the rarest of Fleming's James Bond short stories. "007 in New York" barely qualifies as a story, running only a few pages in length and detailing an inconsequential assignment that brings Bond to New York City. The episode, which is actually a shaggy dog story in disguise, is most notable for including the recipe for "Scrambled Eggs James Bond."

British readers had to wait until 1999 before seeing "007 in New York" published in their country; it was only printed, initially, in the American edition of Thrilling Cities. In 1999, the London Sunday Times reprinted the story and in 2002 it was added to new editions of the short story collection Octopussy and The Living Daylights.
