Thiru-Kochi, formerly known as Travancore-Cochin, is a former state of India. It was created on July 1 1949 by the merger of two former princely states, the kingdoms of Tranvancore (Thiruvithaamcoore) and Cochin (Kochi).
On November 1 1956, it was joined with Malabar District to form the new state of Kerala.
