The Texas Medical Center is the largest and one of the most famous groups of medical institutions worldwide.
It is located in midtown Houston, Texas, United States. Many famous people have been flown into the Medical Center. Adjacent to the center is Rice University, Hermann Park and the Museum District. The Texas Medical Center includes 13 hospitals, 2 medical schools, and a total of 42 institiutions in all.
The Texas Medical Center has a notable building. The Saint Luke's Medical Tower forms the center's skyline. It was built in 1991.
The SONCC , short for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing and Student Community Center, has been started in 2001 and will be completed in 2004.
The area is served by three light rail stations on the Red Line of the METRORail light rail system.
