Staten Island Yankees

The Staten Island Yankees are a minor league baseball team, located in Staten Island, New York. Affectionately nicknamed the "Baby Bombers", the Yankees are a Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees and play in the New York - Penn League at Richmond County Bank Ballpark along the waterfront in St. George, on the northeast tip of Staten Island.

The Yankees were one of two minor league teams, along with the Brooklyn Cyclones, that were brought to the outer boroughs of New York City in 1999 by a deal brokered by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The team previously was based in Watertown, New York. The Yankees played their first season at the campus of the College of Staten Island before moving the Richmond County Bank Ballpark after its construction for the 2000 season.

The first Staten Island Yankee to make it into the major leagues was pitcher Jason Anderson. His number, 19, was officially retired by the Staten Island Yankees.
