Selective attention . A type of attention which involves focusing on a specific aspect of an experience while ignoring other aspects.

examples:

• Focusing on one voice during a party in which many people are speaking
• Focusing on watching television while speaking with someone
• Focusing on advertisements that are interesting and ignoring others that are not
