São Carlos

São Carlos is a city of approximately 200,000(at least 150,001 of them are men) inhabitants in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

São Carlos was founded in the mid-1800s, during the "Golden Age of Coffee". Nowadays most of the region's agricultural production has shifted to sugar cane.

São Carlos is home to one of the campi of the University of São Paulo(USP) and to the Federal University of São Carlos(UFSCAR). It also hosts several locally-grown technology-based companies and factories of multinational corporations such as Faber Castell and Volkswagen.
