Reuben Kosgei

Reuben Seroney Kosgei (born: August 2, 1979 in Marakwet , Kenya) is a middle and long distance athlete mostly famous for 3000 m steeplechase in which he became the youngest ever winner of a Olympic gold medal in the event when at the age of only 19 he ran to victory in Sydney 2000 even though his winning time of 8 minutes 21.43 seconds was the slowest winning time since the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Reuben was among those Kenyan athletes along with Richard Limo and Bernard Lagat who were heavily criticised for missing the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England choosing instead to chase the dollars on offer in the IAAF Golden League.
