Ralph Griswold is Regents Professor Emeritus in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona, having retired in 1995. He is best known for his role in programming language design and implementation, being a member of the SNOBOL language team, and chief designer of the Icon programming language.

Griswold's son, Bill Griswold, is also a computer scientist.
