President of Ukraine

The President of Ukraine (in Ukrainian, Президент України, Prezydent Ukrayiny) is the head of state and acts in its name. The President is the guarantor of the state sovereignty and territorial indivisibility of Ukraine, the observance of the Constitution of Ukraine and human and citizens' rights and freedoms.

The Ukrainian People's Republic was formed after the Russian Revolution, and lasted until the Peace of Riga between Poland and Bolshevist Russia in March, 1921.
