Pixote, directed and written by Hector Babenco and released in Brazil in 1981 is the chiling, documentary-like account of Brazil's deliquent youth and how they are used by corrupt police and other crime organizations to committ crimes since Brazil has a law that no minor under the age of 18 can be tried for any crime. It is done in documentary fashion and strongly influenced by Italian neo-realism in that amateru actors were used (who's real lives strongly resembled those of the protagonists in the film) and it was shot in crime-ridden locations.
