Developed during the Golden Age of Arcade Games

Pengo is an arcade game made by Sega in 1982. Versions were subsequently released for many home consoles and computer systems.

Pengo, a penguin, is the star of the game. The basic layout of Pengo is akin to Pac-Man, in that it is a top down, 2D, gridlike arrangement. The "maze" is made from blocks of ice that Pengo can push to obliterate the enemies - the "Sno-Bees".

One of Pengo's distinguishing features is its "interactive walls". If Pengo pushes the wall it goes into "freeze mode", and any Sno-Bees next to the wall are instantly frozen.

Pengo was a popular game. An early version of the game used Popcorn as its theme music and took a few moments to draw the maze at the beginning of each level. A later version of the game drew the maze instantly and used its own distinctive theme music.
