Palgrave, Ontario

'Palgrave is a suburban community that is located about 10 km north of Bolton and about 60 km (old: 60 km) N of Toronto. It is situated in the Oak Ridges Moraine which is named after this community. The population around Palgrave sxcept for further south, the forests are forested with pine trees and has several creeks. The forests cover around Palgrave with the exception of low-lying areas and the southern portion. Farmlands are scattered around the forested areas. A small lake is north of the centre. The CP (Toronto - Sudbury) rail lies to southeast and the northeast. The Humber River flows west of Palgrave. Mount Wolfe is located east of Palgrave and is one of the highest and are covered with forests. It is located E of Orangeville, S of Alliston, W of Newmarket and N of Brampton.

History

The smaller housing developments began around Palgrave in the 1950s. The developments rarely continued until the late-20th century and the 1990s, large mansions, manors and large lots came to the southwestern portion of Palgrave and south to Cedar Hill within Castlederg Road where most of its farmlands are and were located. Before the developments, farmlands used to cover the southern part. The developments are not as active but more mansions are scattered in the eastern portion. The
