Paktia province is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is in the east of the country. Its capital is Gardiz. It used to cover Khost province, which was split off recently.
Docotor Najibullah Ahmadzai the former president of Afghanistan is also from Paktia province. He was born in Melan Vally. Mohammad Abid Amiri is also from Paktia province. He's son of Mohammad Rahim Amiri.
