Ostankino Tower
Ostankino Tower is a free-standing television and radio tower in Moscow, 540 meters in height. Construction began in 1963 and was completed in 1967.
It burned in August 2000 with the loss of three lives and serious structural damage. It is scheduled to reopen in 2004 following massive reconstruction.
It is the second tallest free-standing structure in the world and is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers.
