Optic disc

The optic disc or optic nerve head is the point in the eye where the optic nerve enters the retina; it is not sensitive to light. Inspection of the optic disc by ophthalmoscopy can give an indication of glaucoma and other optic neuropathies, optic neuritis, or papilledema (i.e. optic disc swelling produced by raised intracranial pressure).
