Opération Turquoise was the a French military operation in Rwanda in 1994-1995. Officialy it aimed at creating a secured zone to prevent the continuation of the Rwandan Genocide.
Though sanctioned by the United Nations, it was not formally connected with UNAMIR, the existing UN mission in Rwanda.
