Oliver Beene is the central character in the short-lived sitcom of the same name. Set in 1962, the show chronicled the trials and tribulations of 11-year-old Oliver, in first person perspective. It aired in March 2003, and was cancelled in October of the same year.
Oliver, played by Grant Rosenmeyer , attempts to sustain normality in an often unpredictable family. Oliver's father, Jerry (Grant Shaud ) spends his days drilling teeth as a dentist, while his mother, (Wendy Makkena ) attempts to play the traditional homemaker. Oliver's brother, Ted (Andrew Lawrence) is a sports nut and a womaniser. Oliver's life is often made more bearable with friends Neal (Ben Bookbinder ), Michael (Taylor Emerson ) and Joyce (Daveigh Chase). The narrator, an older Oliver reflecting on his experiences (a la The Wonder Years), is voiced by David Cross.
