Obolon CJSC or ZAT Obolon is the largest Ukrainian brewer of international importance based in Kyiv. It also produces low alcohol drinks (cocktails), various soda drinks and locally extracted natural mineral water. Obolon CJSC controls breweries and wholesalers across the country, employing tens of thousands.

History
The company's main brewery was built in 1980, near an important artesian well in Kyiv's Obolon' district. By 1986, it had grown into a large holding including four breweries and adopted the name "Obolon' ". In 1992, "Obolon' " became the first private corporation in Ukraine and established its corporate brand name. The shares of company stock were distributed among its employees.
Now Obolon CJSC is a large producer leading on domestic market and exporting to dozens of foreign countries (including United States, EU and South-East Asia states). The company is controlled purely by Ukrainian capital. Obolon CJSC owns breweries and distribution facilities in:

Oleksandr Slobodian , the CEO and veteran of the company, also participates in Ukrainian politics. He is a member of the Verkhovna Rada (representing the conservative People's Movement of Ukraine ) for two consecutive sessions .
Sports patronage
Obolon CJSC actively supports Ukrainian soccer. Since 1999, it has been sponsoring district club in Kyiv, which is now playing in the country's highest division under FC Obolon Kyiv name. Regional subsidiaries also support their local teams. The company has also created a nation-wide system of junior soccer teams. Such charity is largely inspired by the personal commitment of its CEO (an amateur footballer in his young years).
