Naadam

(Redirected from Naadam Holiday)

Naadam (Наадам) is the national festival of Mongolia held from July 11 to 13. The festival sometimes is called "Eriin Gurvan Naadam," meaning "men's three variety of games," where Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery are the only ones that are held throughout the country and are widely known in Mongolia. The festival celebrates the 1921 Mongol Revolution. It is the most widely watched and the most celebrated festival in Mongolia. The festival is believed to have existed for centuries in one fashion or another among Mongols and is sometimes thought of as celebration and relaxation from the past winter's cold temperatures on the Mongolia's harsh steppes.
