Moorcroft is a town located in Crook County, Wyoming. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 807.

Geography

Moorcroft is located at 44°15'54" North, 104°57'2" West (44.264863, -104.950663).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 807 people, 325 households, and 219 families residing in the town. The population density is 283.3/km² (731.4/mi²). There are 375 housing units at an average density of 131.6/km² (339.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.14% White, 0.00% African American, 0.99% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 1.36% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 325 households out of which 34.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% are married couples living together, 7.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% are non-families. 25.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.04.

In the town the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 11.3% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 99.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.7 males.
