Montreal Royals

The Montreal Royals were a AAA farm club for the Brooklyn Dodgers during the years 1939-1960.

The team holds a unique place in baseball history as being the first major-league affiliate to break the so-called "colour barrier", by signing Jackie Robinson, an American of African descent who played with the team during the 1946 season. Robinson left to play for the Dodgers in the following year.
