Michael Fortier

Michael Fortier is a Montreal financier and lawyer who was President of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada for a time in the 1990s. He ran for the leadership of the party in 1998 but came in last with 4% of the vote. Fortier was a Progressive Conservative candidate in the Montreal riding of Laval West during the 2000 federal election placing fourth. In 2003 he was co-chair of Stephen Harper's campaign to lead the new Conservative Party of Canada. (see 2004 Conservative Party of Canada leadership race)

Michael Fortier is also the name of the key informant in the Oklahoma City bombing prosecution which resulted in the convictions of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols.
