Lyulka AL-21

(Redirected from Lyulka AL-21F)

The Lyulka/Saturn AL-21 is a powerful turbojet engine designed by the Russian company named for Arkhip Mikhailovich Lyulka (1908-1984). It entered production in the early 1960s. In its earliest form it powered the Tupolev Tu-28P interceptor, with later marks used in the Sukhoi Su-17/Su-22 series, the Sukhoi Su-24 'Fencer,' and the prototypes of the Sukhoi T-10 (which became the Sukhoi Su-27 'Flanker'). A non-afterburning version powered the Yakovlev Yak-38 VTOL fighter.

The AL-21F-3 produces about 76.5 kN (17,200 lbf) thrust in military power, about 109.8 kN (24,800 lbf) with afterburner.
