Louise Erdrich

Karen Louise Erdrich (born June 7, 1954) is a Native American (Chippewa) author of novels, poetry, and children's books. Erdrich is the daughter of an Ojibwa Indian mother and a German-American father, and her work is focussed on Native American themes.

Her work includes Love Medicine , winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, Tracks, The Beet Queen , The Bingo Palace , Tales of Burning Love , The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse , The Master Butcher's Singing Club , Four Souls , The Blue Jay's Dance , and The Antelope Wife as well as two books of poetry: Baptism of Desire and Jacklight .

She also co-wrote The Crown of Columbus with her late husband, Michael Dorris.
