Founded in 1905, Loma Linda University (LLU) is a private, Christian, coeducational, health sciences university located in Southern California 60 miles east of Los Angeles close to San Bernardino and near beaches, mountains, and the desert. LLU is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's system of higher education. As such it provides an environment for learning that emphasizes individual commitment to Christ, personal integrity, intellectual development, and community service. Eight schools and the Faculty of Religion comprise the University organization. More than 55 programs are offered by the schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Science and Technology, and the Graduate School. Curricula offered range from certificates of completion and associate in science degrees to doctor of philosophy and professional doctoral degrees. Students from more than 80 countries around the world and virtually every state in the nation are represented in Loma Linda University's student body. LLU also offers distance education. The University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Loma Linda University, a Seventh-day Adventist Christian health sciences institution, seeks to further the healing and teaching ministry of Jesus Christ "to make man whole" by:
- Educating ethical and proficient Christian health professionals and scholars through instruction, example, and the pursuit of truth;
- Expanding knowledge through research in the biological, behavioral, physical, and environmental sciences and applying this knowledge to health and disease;
- Providing comprehensive, competent, and compassionate health care for the whole person through faculty, students, and alumni.

Facilities and Resources
Uniquely situated on the same campus with Loma Linda University Medical Center, students have the opportunity to "rub shoulders" with leaders in the world of research. The Medical Center is world-renowned for its infant heart transplant programs headed by Dr. Leonard Bailey. In addition, the Medical Center has the world's first hospital-based proton accelerator, which is revolutionizing the treatment for certain types of cancer. Students can also enjoy the new sports and recreational Drayson Center, which offers indoor and outdoor running tracks, racquetball and tennis courts, two Olympic-size swimming pools, basketball courts, weight room, exercise machine rooms, and many more services accessible to students. Intramural sports are organized by the staff at Drayson Center. Each school has computer labs for students with the latest software packages available and access to the Internet.
