In Christian theology (and Biblical imagery), the lake of fire is a place of perpetual torment (see Revelation 20:14, 21:8).
In popular culture, the term "Fire Lake" has been used to indicate reaching the end of the line or death. See this Bob Seger song.
- "Who wants to play those eights and aces
- Who wants a raise
- Who needs a stake
- Who wants to take that long-shot gamble
- And head out for Fire Lake"
"Eights and aces" being the "Dead man's hand" and alluding to dying.
