Jim Kelly

James Edward Kelly (born February 14, 1960) was an American football quarterback and is the Buffalo Bills' all-time leader in multiple passing categories. He also ranks among the National Football League's career leaders in many statistics. He holds the all-time NFL record for most yards gained per completion in a single game, 44.0, established on September 10, 1995 against the Carolina Panthers."Machine Gun Kelly" was perhaps best known for his mastering of Ted Marchibroda 's No Huddle Offense (also known in Buffalo as the "K Gun" offense) which was a fast paced offense that denied the opposing defense the oppurtunity to make substitutions, leading to mismatches and communication breakdowns. Kelly was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio in 2002.

Drafted by the Bills out of the University of Miami, where his teams were among the best NCAA programs nationally, Kelly opted instead to join the fledgling United States Football League (USFL) and played for the Houston Gamblers . He was among the league's best passers, but the league folded due to financial troubles and its players were dispersed among the existing NFL teams. Buffalo, which retained Kelly's draft rights, welcomed the quarterback with open arms.

The Pennsylvania native was a fan favorite during his tenure in Buffalo, leading the Bills to four straight Super Bowl appearances from 1991-1994, a feat that has not to date been duplicated (and may never be again).

Jim Kelly has devoted much of his post-football life to his son, Hunter, who has Krabbe Leukodystrophy (Krabbes disease), and has established a web site to raise funds to fight the disease. [1] http://www.huntershope.org/
