Injil

The Injil (the Arabic word for the Christian Gospels) is, according to Islam, one of the three holy books revealed by Allah prior to the Qur'an - the others being the Zabur (Psalms) and the Tawrat (Torah). Together the Tawrat, Zabur, Injil and Qur'an make up the revealed books of Islam.

Muslims believe, on the basis of the Qur'an, that humans have corrupted some parts the Injil. The parts of the Injil that Muslims recornise to be corrupted are the Holy Trinity where Jesus is the Son of God and the events that occured after Jesus' death. Muslims believe that instead of Jesus dying on the cross and then being resurrected (the Common Christian belief), he was instead risen while alive into heaven. Jesus' age at the time was 33 years old, and Muslims believe that as soon as people enter heaven, their age would also be 33 years old. Muslims also believe that Jesus will one day come back to Earth and live, then die like all human beings.

To avoid further editting, and corruption of the Holy Texts, Muslims only use the Qur'an, as they believe that it is the only text that can be used in it's entirity all the time.
