Ignaz Moscheles (May 23, 1794 - March 10, 1870) was a Bohemian composer and piano virtuoso.
Born in Prague, Moscheles studied at the Prague Conservatory and then in Vienna under Johann Albrechtsberger and Antonio Salieri. One of the leading piano virtuosi of his day, Moscheles was regarded by many as the greatest pianist between Hummel and the advent of Chopin and Liszt.
He wrote a symphony, seven piano concerti of which the 3rd in G minor had some popularity- recently all have been recorded, several chamber works, piano sonatas, etudes and numerous other works.
