Hans von Bülow

Hans Guido Freiherr von Bülow (January 8, 1830February 12, 1894) was a 19th Century pianist, conductor and composer. He was a student of both Friedrich Wieck (the father of Clara Schumann) and, later, Franz Liszt. Hans von Bülow married Liszt's daughter, Cosima, who later divorced von Bülow and married Richard Wagner. Bülow, however, remained a disciple of Wagner's, conducting the premieres of several Wagner operas.

From 1887 to 1893 von Bülow was the first chief conducter of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
