Hannah Webster Foster

Hannah Webster Foster (September 10 17581840) was an American novelist.

Born in Salisbury, Massachusetts, she wrote Coquette; or The History of Eliza Wharton in 1797. It is an epistolary novel, and one of the first of its kind in America.

She also wrote the novel The Boarding School in 1798 about education in the United States.
