Marcus Annius Florianus Pius was reportedly a maternal half-brother to Roman Emperor Marcus Claudius Tacitus. He was chosen by the army in the west to succeed Tacitus in 276. The army in the east, on the other hand, chose Probus. The two rival Emperors met in battle, and when it was clear Probus had the superior force, Florianus was assassinated by his own troops. He was emperor for 88 days.
