Fernando Fernán Gómez

Fernando Fernández Gómez (born August 28 1921) was born in Lima, Peru, the son of actress Carola Fernán-Gómez. He inherited her surname as a stage name.

Fernando moved to Spain on 1924.

After the Spanish Civil War, he tried to study Law, but he interrupted his studies to work in theater.

On 1942, he began to work in cinema, but he also kept working on theater. Director and writer, he formed his own theater company and got many awards, even as an author.

On the 1950s he began to direct movies, but he was not respected on this area until 1958, with the comedy La Vida por Delante, which even got a sequel.

He divorced his wife María Dolores Pradera on 1959, which was a scandal to the Spanish audience (even more as they had had a daughter). He wouldn't marry again till 2000.

Originally, he was criticized as a "commercial director" for cinema and TV.

Currently, Fernán-Gómez is widely recognized as a great professional in any of his fields. However, he is sometimes specially rude when asked about his personal life.
