End of Days

End of Days is a horror film, released on Wednesday, November 24, 1999, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jericho Cane, Gabriel Byrne as The Man/Satan, Kevin Pollak as Chicago, and Robin Tunney as Christine York.

Plot

In 1979, an innocent newborn girl is secretly patronized by Satanists. Twenty years later, she has developed into a young woman, who is haunted by dreams about one strange man. Meanwhile, private security guard Jericho (Arnold Schwarzenegger) takes down an old and homeless priest, who tried to shoot Jericho's customer, a successful Wall Street Banker. What Jericho does not know is that Satan (Gabriel Byrne) himself roams the Streets of New York in order to mate with the chosen girl. If he doesn't manage to do so in the last hour before the next millennium, his only chance to get out of his eternal prison is gone and he has to wait another thousand years. Now it is up to atheist Jericho to find the girl (Robin Tunney) before Satan does and protect her from harm. But Jericho does not have a clue who he's up against...

The movie supposes, as a plot device, that the number represented in Revelations was actually seen upside down in a dream and should have actually been 999. This ignores the reality that Arabic numerals were probably not invented until ca. 400 A.D., and only reached the Middle East by 670 A.D., whereas Revelations is considered to have been written in the first or second centuries A.D.
