Emperor Go-Saga of Japan
Emperor Go-Saga (後嵯峨天皇) (1220-1272) was the 88th imperial ruler of Japan. He ruled from 1242 to 1246. Go-Saga was succeeded first by his son, Go-Fukakusa, and then, twelve years later, by another son Fushimi. The two emperors' descendents would go on to form two rival imperial houses with competing claims to the throne during the early Muromachi period.
