The Elsecar Steam Railway is located on the old Great Central Railway freight-only branch from a junction near Mexborough in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, built to serve collieries and ironworks. It operates trains on a short length of the branch with one steam and one diesel locomotive. The rolling stock also includes recently delivered Class 101 unit 101685 "Daisy", which was one of the final units of its class in service.
