Born in Mantua, her parents were Vincenzo Gonzaga (Duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga of Mantua) (1562-1612) and Eleonora Medici (Eleonora de Medici) (1567-1611). She was the wife of Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor. Eleonora, famous for her singular beauty, married Ferdinand in Innsbruck 1622.
