Durotaxis

Durotaxis is the directed movement of cell motility or outgrowth, for example in the case of axonal outgrowth, either up or down a rigidity. These gradients are often present in biomaterials seeded with cells of interest, where the gradients are established by altering the degree of cross-linking in a polymer.

Durotaxis is also known as mechanotaxis.
