Doral-Eastern Open)
The Ford Championship at Doral is a PGA Tour golf tournament, which takes place over the "Blue Monster" course at Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami-Dade County, Florida, currently in early March. It was first played in 1962 and has had various names over the years, most of which have included the word "Doral".
The tournament usually attracts one of the strongest fields on the PGA Tour outside of the major championships and the World Golf Championships. In 2005 nine of the top ten players in the official world rankings participated and the after an exciting fourth day duel with World Number 4 Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods won by a shot to regain the number one ranking he had lost six months earlier to Vijay Singh, who finished in a tie for third.
