Dong Nai Province

Dong Nai is a province of Vietnam located east of Saigon. The largest city in Dong Nai is Bien Hoa .

  • Area: 5,895 square kilometers
  • Population(2002): 2,095,500
  • Main Cities: Bien Hoa
  • Districts: Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Vinh Cuu, Thong Nhat, Long Khanh, Xuan Loc, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach.

The province is bordered by Binh Phuoc to the north, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan to the east, Ba Ria-Vung Tau to the south, Binh Duong , and Saigon to the west. The population of Dong Nai is primarily the dominant Kinh (Viet) ethnicity, although there are residents of the Chinese, Hoa, Nung, Tay and Cham minorities.

Dong Nai is an industrial province which experienced heavy investment from foreign investors in the shipping, food products and manufacturing industries since Vietnam opened to foreign investment in the late 1980s.

Dong Nai is rapidly modernizing, and because of proximity to Saigon as well as a relatively well-developed infrastructure, commerce has thrived in the province. Dong Nai is widely electrified, and telephone networks and even ADSL internet connectivity was widespread in the city of Bien Hoa as of January, 2004. Further, because the cost of living and labor in Vietnam is below that of even India and the Philippines, economic investment is predicted to continue to increase in Dong Nai.
