Don Kirshner

Don Kirshner is an American songwriter and rock producer, best known for helping create the very successful manufactured groups The Monkees and The Archies, and for hosting a weekly television rock-concert program called Don Kirshner's Rock Concert from 1972 to 1983. The program presented many of the most successful rock bands of the era and was, in the days before music videos, a visual breakthrough, but many people mainly recall Kirshner's infamously wooden delivery as the program host (lampooned on Saturday Night Live by Paul Shaffer).

As a producer, Kirshner was influential in starting off the career of singers and songwriters from Bobby Darin to Carole King.
