Dinesh Das

Dinesh Das Bengali poet b. 16 September 1913 in Calcutta. Editor of literary magazine Agragati. Works include Kabita (Poems), Bhukhmichhil (Hunger Procession), Kancher Manush (Glass Humans). Winner of Rabindra Puraskar 1983 for Ram gechhe Banabase (Ram is in Forest Exile).

Known for his leftist inclinations, among his better known work is the poem (কাস্তে) (Scythe; also part of the symbol of the Communist Party), an allegory on modern industrial life.
