Diksmuide (Dixmude or Diksmude ? in French and English) is a municipality in the province of West Flanders, in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium. The municipality comprises the city of Diksmuide proper and the towns of Beerst, Esen, Kaaskerke, Keiem, Lampernisse, Leke, Nieuwkapelle, Oostkerke, Oudekapelle, Pervijze, Sint-Jacobs-Kapelle, Stuivekenskerke, Vladslo and Woumen. On January 1st, 2004 Diksmuide had a total population of 15,558 (7,742 males and 7,816 females). The total area is 149.40 km² which gives a population density of 104.14 inhabitants per km².
