Dahuk

Map showing Dahuk province in Iraq

Dahuk (also referred to as Dohuk) is one of the provinces of Iraq. It is in the north of the country, within the Kurdish Autonomous Region. Its capital is Dahuk city. During the 1991 Gulf War, the capital was abandoned and occupied by the Iraqi army, hostile to the local Kurd population. Dohuk is currently thriving under the new post-Saddam government.
