Cinderella Liberty is a 1973 film which tells the story of a sailor who falls in love with a prostitute and becomes a surrogate father for her young son. It stars James Caan, Marsha Mason, Kirk Calloway , Eli Wallach, Burt Young, Allyn Ann McLerie , Dabney Coleman and Allan Arbus.
The movie was adapted by Daryl Ponicsan from his novel. It was directed by Mark Rydell .
It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Marsha Mason), Best Music, Original Dramatic Score and Best Music, Song (John Williams and Paul Williams for "Nice to Be Around").
