Catfish Hunter

James Augustus "Catfish" Hunter (April 8, 1946 - September 9, 1999) was a prolific Major League baseball pitcher during the late 1960s and 1970s. He earned five World Series championship rings, threw a perfect game in 1968, and was known as a skilled control pitcher. He played for the Kansas City and Oakland A's and New York Yankees, and was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987.

Hunter died in Hertford, North Carolina, where he was born, as a result of Lou Gehrig's Disease.
