The Bulgarian national revival (Vazrazdane) was a period of socio-economic development and national integration among Bulgarian people in the Ottoman Empire. It started with the first written Bulgarian history prepared by the Hilendar monastery monk of Bulgarian origin called Paisii (year 1762) and lasted for the next 100 years up to Bulgarian independence (year 1878).
